Zip-line Canopy Tour
The Adventure WV canopy tour is comprised of 4 zip-lines, 7 tree-based platforms, an aerial bridge, aerial ladder and a rappel station to exit the course. Each zip or leg of the course ranges in length from the 201’ starting zip, to the 980’ zip at the conclusion of the course. Participants will rappel 45’ from the final platform to the ground. After exiting the course, participants will hike from the base of the final tree back to the equipment shed on an interpretive nature trail (approximately 10 mins on a moderate trail).
High Ropes/Aerial Trekking: Alpine Tower & Giant Swing
Add some adventure to your Fall Family Weekend! Located at the WVU Outdoor Education Center, the Alpine Tower and Giant Swing are two dynamic activities that allow participants to choose their own adventure level. Our tower is a dynamic climbing structure that has multiple routes, difficulty levels and specialty elements. Our Swing is a unique element that allows participants to choose their preferred height before being released and swinging back and forth.
Climb and swing among the fall colors and assist families members are they reach heights upwards of 45 feet.
High Ropes/Aerial Trekking: Odyssey Course
Try to escape with your family this double decked challenge course structure!
Comprised of various elements at various heights, the Odyssey Course is a problem solving and aerial adventure element all in one. Each group will be guided by a trained facilitator as they progress from problem to problem. Groups will be tasked with working together as the traverse the element. Jump to platforms, cross logs and try hurdling ropes as your go from end to end. Challenge yourself and others with this high adventure activity!
Come explore the unique climbing opportunities that are so abundant at Coopers Rock State Forest! Meet our Adventure WV climbing staff at Coopers and start with a short and gentle hike to our climbing destination. After the warm-up hike, our climbing staff will guide you through a fun session of top-rope climbing. This includes using a harness, helmet and secure anchors and rope to climb. No prior skills required. This is an incredible opportunity to share an adventure together in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Kayaking on Cheat Lake
Go on kayaking adventure this Fall Family Weekend! Explore segments of Cheat Lake
with family and friends. Kayak along the coast and learn new skill and you venture
along this popular Morgantown recreational area. Get a unique view of the emerging
fall colors from the comfort of your boat. All spots are available on a first
come, first serve basis
Guided Hike at Coopers Rock
Coopers Rock is Morgantown’s best outdoor attraction and truly a local gem.
Come take a hike with family and friends and explore one of the most visited state
forests in West Virginia. This guided experience will take participants through
hidden overlooks, rock cliffs and other unique and interesting areas. Participants
will meet at the Coopers Rock “Overlook Trading Post” at 10:00 a.m.
The hike will take about two hours. No prior skills required. This is an incredible
opportunity to share an adventure together in a relaxed and supportive environment
